  • Workout Schedule (for anybody who wants to know)

i'm not going to go into a ton of detail, that may come later in some wushu training articles (like for jiayo.com, check it out).

    Tues/Thurs/Sat=Strength

10 mins cardio warm up/corrective stretching/Leg circuit (isolated leg press, leg curl, seated calve raise, standing calve raise, hip adduction, hip abduction, gluet kick backs, squats, lat pull down, seated row=all 3 sets 12 about 70-75 max 1 rep (takes about 1hr+)

    Sun/Weds/Fri=Power

Foam rolling/10 min cardio warm up/corrcetive stretching/Core work: abs, obliques, lats, hip flexors, gluets (too many exercises to list on the mat and balance ball), jump squats with medicine ball, multi-planar lunges with medicine ball, more abs wth M ball, bicep/tri/chops wih M ball on proprioception pad, stairs, foot work, jump rope frog jumps, on  leghops, drop/load jumps, multi-planar drop jumps, one leg drop jumps=2-3  sets of all but less of some and more of other on different days.  Core work is slow and controlled everthing else is as fast as proper techinique will allow (takes about 1.5hrs+)

*I actually switch between two days weights and three power one week and then two days power and three weights the next the added day off I swim for 30-40mins.  On top of this I get to wushu practice or practice a few hours of Taiji on my own 2-3 times a week.

I have been on this about 6 weeks and will continue 3-4 weeks before moving in to "maintenence" w/ weights just one day a week and power 2-3 times adding more Taiji and wushu as competitions get closer.

I don't recomend anybody jump into this workout.  For the power stuff i've read recomendations that you be able to 1) Squat 1.5 body weight 2) bench your body weight 3) Should have .75 the strength or your quad in your hamstring (knee extention compared to flexion). and you should have a lot of "core strength"

Most importand exercises in my opinion: multi-planar lunges and multi-planar drops and foam rolling.

?'s about what the hell i mean by some of this stuff?  email at pwolf7@hotmail.com

  • Scheduling Problems

i've starting to issues with my schedule.   I wasn't able to get to wushu practice one time this week.  On two nights I can clients who ended up cancelling, if they would have giving more notice I could have still made....I am allowed to charge them, but being that i'm a new trainer with few clients I don't want to risk loosing them.  I think that I will just punish them (with harder workouts) and take away those night time time slots, making them free for more serious clients or for me to go to wushu practice.

I just finished two good books about sex, drugs, and rock and roll.  One by japanese author Ryu Murakami "Amost Transparent Blue" taking place in japan in the late 70's.  The second by Chinese author Mian Mian "Candy", taking place in Shanghai and Shenzhen in the mid to late 90's.

More on those later...I'm off to see the Root's with Pharcyde in San Diego.
